Was everyone LOST?

As expected, the field was small tonight. Weather, work and LOST kept many regulars from the table. So, while it was easier to place higher tonight, the points available were few. So, as last week, from last to first place....

Fresh off her win last week, and hoping to add to her point total, Crystal was out first tonight, surviving 1 all in but never able to catch fire as she did last week, she ended the night with 1 point.

Next out, Skylar. Odd that the heads up players from last week were the first two out this week. Such are the fortunes of poker. Skylar added 2 points this week.

Next out was Deb, with a total of 3 points to add to her total.

Again this week, I made the top 3. Now, if this trend keeps up, I'll be out 3rd next week, then have 3 weeks of making the top 2. We'll see.

The heads up game this week came down to Tanner and Chris. After not placing first last week, would Tanner return to the top spot this week. No! Tanner could't hold off Chris' aggressive playing style and bowed out in second place.

For his first top finish this year, Chris earned 8 points.

So, here are the results of tonight's game;

NAME ____PLACE ____ POINTS
Crystal ____ 6 ____ 1
Skylar ____ 5 ____ 2
Deb ____ 4 ____ 3
Jeff ____ 3 ____ 4
Tanner ____ 2 ____ 6
Chris ____ 1 ____ 8

Thursday night preview for 1/31/08

After speaking with a few regulars to TNP, there may be a light crowd tonight. Adam will be watching LOST, Tanner may be working, Stevie has to work early tomorrow and the weather is less than inviting. A smaller crowd is a two edged sword. Fewer players means it's easier to place higher, but it also means much fewer points for the winner. So, Tanner's lead is safe for the forseeable future. Results from tonight's game will be posted either tonight or tomorrow morning. Shuffle up and deal!

A Sunday night game for fun

Sunday evening found Adam, Paul & Killian at the B & B for a friendly game of Texas Holdem. As usual, Killian was first out, going all in on a small pair which was beaten by Paul's slightly larger pair. The three way match went on for some time with Paul finally bowing out around 10. This left myself and Adam in the heads up match. The chips went back and forth but at about 12:30 I finally had a hand good enough to beat Adam's all in. It was a lot of fun, especially watching Paul laugh to the point of throwing up! Sorry I didn't call you Crystal, I'll make a point to do so next time.

In the beginning.......

Stevie felt that I should create a blog outside of myspace to chronicle the poker stats, comments and general information here for those who don't have a myspace account. So, building on Adam's idea, we'll start one of our own.

I'll duplicate my Admiral's Log posting of our poker happenings from myspace here. That way, those who either don't have a myspace account or not on my friends list can keep up with the poker results from our group of friends. These will include, but not be limited to, our Thursday Night Poker games at Sassy's, the less frequent but oft exciting money games at the B & B, and the occasional game just for fun, when we play Texas & Omaha Holdem, draw, Mexican Sweat, Liars and stud.

So, here are the standings thus far in the new season.

Admirals Log - SPECIAL TNP REPORT
Well, tonight was a night of firsts. And rather than list all the players then their finish, I'll just start with the first one out and count down to tonight's winner.

Out of a crowded field of 10, and one of the firsts I spoke of, Killian made his return to TNP with less than a resounding finish. In fact, he was out first and placed 10th with 1 point.

The second player to leave the tables was, surprisingly, Deb. Leaving her with 2 points to add to her total.

Next out was Jake, a friend of Deb and Shane and making his debut at TNP with 3 points.

After combining tables, Shane ended his run with 4 points. Sorry Shane, even though it was your birthday, TNP is unforgiving & birthdays don't get you extra points.

Next was Paul, also making his first appearance in quite a while and out in 6th place with 5 points.

Stevie was next to bow out, still in a slump but improving to 5th place and 6 points.

Another first, at least for '08, Tanner was ousted and to the relief of many only accumulated 7 points to add to his already sizable lead.

And finally, for the first time this year, I was able to penetrate into the top 3.

Making it to head to head competition for the first time this year, in fact in a long time, was Skylar. In fact, Skylar put out several players including Shane, Stevie, Killian and myself. His much needed 10 points will boost him in the standings as his first 2 outings have only netted him 2 points so far and last week he was forced to miss the game due to an automobile accident.

And our final first for the night, making her TNP debut for 2008, winner of 12 points, playing her usual tough game was Crystal! Her first appearance, her first win and first points on the score board will insure she'll be in the running for top spot in the weeks to come.
So, here are the results from Thursday, January 24:

NAME .....TOTAL ....PLACE
CRYSTAL .....12 .....1
SKYLAR .....10 .....2
JEFF ......8 .....3
TANNER ......7 .....4
STEVIE ......6 .....5
PAUL .....5 .....6
SHANE .....4 .....7
JAKE .....3 .....8
DEB .....2 .....9
KILLIAN .....1 .....10
